Tom Stover is finishing his third season as Green Bay's head men's and women's diving coach. Stover came to the Phoenix in 2005 following his retirement from high school coaching.
Stover served as a long-time swimming and diving coach, as well as school guidance counselor, at Sturgeon Bay High School. During his career, Stover coached his Clippers teams to three team state championships, one runner-up state finish, six sectional titles and 20 conference crowns. He also coached 14 individuals or relays to state championships. He was named Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Division 2 boys' state coach of the year in both 2003 and 2004. A Winona, Minn., native, Stover competed on the Winona State University diving team from 1964-67, earning trips to the NAIA national meet in 1965 and 1967. He set the school's one-meter and three-meter diving records in 1967 before earning his bachelor's degree in 1969. He received his master's degree from UW-Stout in 1984. Tom and his wife, Maggie, live in Sturgeon Bay. They have three daughters: Lindsey Jo, Kayla and Anna. |
