Feb. 15, 2008

Green Bay, Wis. - Head Coach Mike Kline has announced that Erik Blomsness (Winona, Minn./Winona) and Joshua Clark (Gillett, Wis./Gillett) have both signed on to join the Green Bay men's cross country team for the 2008 season.

Blomsness, a four-year letter winner in cross country at Winona Senior High School, was his team's captain for two years. He earned Big 9 all-conference honors twice in his high school career, and helped his squad to a fifth-place finish at the 2007 Minnesota AA State Meet.

The future Phoenix freshman is also a standout in the classroom. Blomsness was chosen as the "Triple A" award winner at Winona, which honors excellence in athletics, academics and arts.

Clark has also been successful with academics. He has been on the high honor roll each of his four years at Gillett High School and is a four-time Academic All-State award winner.

On the course, Clark is a four-time qualifier for the WIAA State Cross Country Meet. In 2007 he finished 12th, leading his team to fourth place in Division 3.

Clark was also a two-time state qualifier in track, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 3200 meter run in 2007.

"Erik and Josh will be strong additions to our team both academically and athletically," Kline said. "I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to having them in Phoenix-land next fall."
