Men's Golf Gets 2008 Spring Season Underway

INDIANAPOLIS - The Green Bay men's golf team got the 2008 spring season underway with an eighth place finish in the 10-team Butler Spring Invitational. The event was shortened to two rounds due to inclement weather Tuesday.

Travis Meyer was Green Bay's top finisher, tying for ninth with a 10-over 154, aided by his team-best three-over 75 on Monday. Brady Mork was second for the Phoenix with a 161, while Garrett Gosh was third for Green Bay with a 163. Adam Austreng (165) and Peter Gobis (166) rounded out Green Bay's squad.

Bo Van Handel competed as an individual at the event, carding a 161 in two rounds, aided by a four-over 76 on Monday.

Evansville, who took the team title with a three-stroke lead, was led by medalist Kyle Reddington with a one-over 145.

Green Bay returns to action April 4-5 at the Western Illinois' Beu Mussatto Invitational.
