Austreng Leads Field After Two Rounds at Horizon League Championship

LEBANON, Ohio - Junior Adam Austreng has a one-stroke lead after firing a three-under 141 through two rounds Monday at the 2008 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship at Shaker Run Golf Course, hosted by Wright State University. Austreng went two-under on the par-72 course in the day's first round, despite a double bogey on his first hole. He recovered thanks to an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole and tallied nine birdies through 36 holes. Austreng leads Butler's Kyle Thomas by one stroke and has a two-stroke lead on both Jake Scott and Kent Monas of Cleveland State. Green Bay is currently fifth of seven teams heading into the final 18 holes Tuesday. The Phoenix is three strokes from fourth-place Butler and 10 strokes back of Youngstown State in third place. Cleveland State leads Detroit by three strokes for the top spot. Garrett Gosh is tied for 15th after an unfortunate end to his second round, where he lost six strokes in his final two holes to finish with a 79. Brady Mork is one stroke behind Gosh in a tie for 19th with an 11-over 155, while Carson Solien is tied for 30th with a 15-over 159. Travis Meyer is 33rd with an 18-over 162.
