GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay women's basketball team (3-1) got its 2007-08 home slate off on the right foot Wednesday night as the Phoenix cruised to a 76-54 win over Northern Illinois in front of 1,937 fans at the Kress Center.

The win extended Green Bay's home court winning streak to 17 games, which third-best in team history and was sixth-highest in the nation heading into the 2007-08 season.

Rachel Porath posted her second straight 20-point game thanks to a 9-of-14 effort from the field to tie her career high set in the team's previous outing against Missouri State. Lavesa Glover added 13 points and Kayla Groh tallied 10 points. Ten of Green Bay's 11 players that took the floor found the scoring column, and four Phoenix freshmen either tied or set career bests in points.

Green Bay's defense led to its offense, as the Phoenix forced 35 turnovers on the night with 20 steals. Freshman Celeste Hoewisch led the way with five takeaways while Porath and Groh each had four steals.

Leading by four midway through the first half, Green Bay went on a 14-0 run over 5:36 to own a 34-16 lead on the team's way to a 16-point advantage at the break. Glover tallied 10 of her 13 points in the first half.

Green Bay's lead peaked at 31 twice in the second half thanks to a 12-0 second-half surge. Northern Illinois (2-5) chipped away at the lead against Green Bay's reserves to pull within 14 points, but the Phoenix regained its 20-point cushion late.

The Huskies were led by Kylie York's career-best 24 points, but the sophomore guard was the only player to tally more than six points on the night.

Green Bay continues its three-game homestand Saturday when it hosts instate rival Marquette at 3 p.m.
