Wisconsin game notes in PDF Format
GREEN BAY GAME DAY Wisconsin is 16-7 all-time against the Phoenix. Despite a lopsided all-time series, six of the last seven meetings have been decided by 10 points or less, with Wisconsin owning a slight 4-3 lead in those games. Green Bay is 2-1 in its last three trips to the Kohl Center.
Tuesday's contest will air live on AM 1400 WDUZ "The Fan" in the Green Bay area, with Bruce VandenPlas on the call. Live audio is also available here.
Freshman reserve guard Celeste Hoewisch aided the Phoenix in its hot start against Kansas State, as she tallied a career-high eight points, all in the first half, in Green Bay's win. She also remains perfect from three-point range, as she is 4-4 from downtown. Hoewisch has also been a standout defender, as noted by her team-best five steals against Northern Illinois Nov. 28. Leading the way for the Phoenix this season is junior Rachel Porath, who was selected to the Horizon League's preseason first team. This season Porath is second on the Phoenix with 13.7 points per game and first with 6.0 rebounds per contest while shooting a team-best 52.5 percent from the field. Joining Porath for the third straight season in the starting lineup is senior Kayla Groh, who continues to bring versatility to the Phoenix. As a senior, Groh is leading the team with 14.7 points per game while adding 4.2 rebounds a contest. Scouting Wisconsin: The Badgers are coming off a 74-60 win over Air Force in a game that was postponed from Saturday to Sunday, ironically, due to the Falcons' inability to fly out of Colorado Springs. Four Badgers were in double figures, led by Danielle Ward's 14 points.
Jolene Anderson leads the Badgers this year with 21.3 points per game, which is among the top 10 in the nation. Anderson is also ranked in the top 100 in rebounds, free throw percentage, three-pointers per game and assist/turnover ratio.
