Green Bay Women's Golf Team Places Fifth at Loyola



Freshman Ellyn Hansen led Green Bay for the seventh time this year.

MUNDELEIN, Ill. - The Green Bay women's golf team finished its regular season on Tuesday by placing fifth at the Loyola Caputo Invitational at Pine Meadow Golf Course (par 72, 6010 yards). The Phoenix, in its first year as a program, was forced to play the two-day, 36-hole tournament one golfer short due to illness.

Green Bay was five shots better on a very windy day two, as the team posted a total of 404 Tuesday. The Phoenix ended the tournament with a score of 813. Youngstown State, one of four Horizon League schools participating in the annual event, won with a sum of 648.

Freshman Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.) led the way for the Phoenix for the seventh time this season, as she carded a two-round score of 173. She placed 19th individually.

Allison Winter (Shawano, Wis.) was the team's second-best finisher, as she landed in 29th place at 198. Madaline Selig (Green Bay, Wis.) took 30th at 218, while Jessica Guzek (De Pere, Wis.) was 10 shots better on the final day to finish at 224.

Green Bay is next in action April 26-27 at the Horizon League Championships in Carmel, Ind. The three-round competition will be held at the Plum Creek Golf Club.
