Women's Golf Ends Fall Slate with 11th-Place Showing at IPFW
Oct. 16, 2007
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Green Bay women's golf team endured a chilly, soggy, tough scoring day during the final round of the IPFW Fall Classic on Tuesday to post a 72-over-par 360. The Phoenix finished the event with a 36-hole sum of 715 (+139), easily the best two-round score in the program's short history. The previous best tournament total was a 753 (+177), achieved last week at the Titan Invitational in Detroit. Horizon League member Butler won the 11-team IPFW Fall Classic by eight strokes over IUPUI by tallying a two-round 608 (+32). Four other Horizon League schools--Loyola (T-3rd, 620), Detroit (6th, 627), Youngstown State (7th, 636) and Cleveland State (10th, 649)--also competed. Freshman Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.) was Green Bay's top finisher for the third time in the team's four fall events. One day after posting a school-record 82, she carded an 86. Her total of 168 (+24) was good for 54th place in the individual standings. Fellow freshman Allison Winter (Shawano, Wis.) had the Phoenix's best score on Tuesday, a 12-over 84. She finished in a share of 59th place at 170 (+26). Anne Mandich (66th, 184), Madaline Selig (67th, 193), and Jessica Guzek (68th, 201) also competed for Green Bay. Selig's 96 on Tuesday was a personal best, while Mandich and Guzek secured career bests on Monday. --uwgbathletics.com-- Team Results Green Bay Individual Results |
