Karen Neuman enters her eighth year as Green Bay head women's tennis coach in 2006-07. Neuman became only the second coach in the highly successful program's history, replacing Jan Pum, who held the post for 25 years prior to retiring in the spring of 2000.
Neuman, a United States Professional Tennis Association certified pro, has been a fixture in the Wisconsin tennis ranks for over 30 years as a coach and a player. A state finalist as a prep at Appleton East, Neuman played collegiate tennis at No. 1 singles and doubles at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Following a coaching stint in Kettering, Ohio, Neuman coached juniors tennis in Europe while playing professionally in a women's satellite circuit for five years.
Neuman's husband, Steve, coached football, track, and wrestling at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., and is now employed with the Mead Paper Corporation. The couple are parents of Kristin (21) and Steven (15).
