GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay volleyball team begins play in the opening round of the Horizon League Tournament Thursday night at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee, Wis. Ninth-seeded Green Bay (6-19, 4-12) plays eighth-seeded Loyola (8-20) at 6 p.m. The game will be televised live in Wisconsin on Time Warner Sports Channel 32 as well as on horizonleaguenetwork.tv.

Loyola won both matches earlier this season, claiming a 3-1 victory in Chicago and a 3-2 triumph in Green Bay. Green Bay played some of its best volleyball of the year down the stretch, however. On Nov. 2, the Phoenix took Milwaukee (25-2, 15-1) to a fifth game before falling, 3-2, and the club defeated third-seeded Wright State by a 3-1 final on the road in the regular season finale.

The winner of Thursday night's contest will play No. 1 seed Milwaukee Friday at 7:30 p.m. The semifinals are set for Saturday afternoon, and the championship will be played Sunday. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Under head coach Debbie Kirch, Green Bay won the Horizon League Tournament in 2003 to earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.
